The two Principals of Lankmar Corporation, developers of software applications for first generation pda’s, viewed themselves as “adventurers in the new (electronic) world”. They also had an avid interest in the writings of Fritz Leiber and the world of (and role playing games associated with) Lankmar. They likened themselves to the anti heroes Fafhrd and Gray Mouser.
Their Identity wanted to feel ancient but still appeal to the bleeding edge. I used the celtic-esque knot as a means of symbolizing the notion of the infinite labyrinth. The logotype was rendered in multiple styles and used across their materials.
